Joanne O’Connell, Business and Program Manager, Entered Into Hall of Fame

Regional Boston, MA December, 2003. Joanne, O’Connell, Business and Program Manager at NXTevent, has been entered into the Hall of Fame at Saugus High School.

Joanne entered the SHS Sports Hall of Fame on her first year of eligibility as a Northeastern Conference All Star in basketball and soccer (a four year player on both varsity teams), a member of the National Honor Society and as the recipient of a four-year college scholarship.

On the basketball court Joanne was a three-year NEC All-Star and a 2-year Co-Captain. On the Soccer field, Joanne was a one-year All-Star as well as Co-Captain. During her tenure at Saugus High, Joanne was elected to the National Honor Society, Class Board of Directors, the Student Council and was assistant editor of the senior yearbook. At graduation, Joanne was the recipient of the Agganis Scholarship, Student Athlete Award, Helen Towle Award, Chamber of Commerce Scholars Award, Salem State College 4-year Scholarship and was ranked #5 in her class.

“It is my belief that the education and skills I developed prior to and during high school have been integral contributions to my career. I was able to further develop and implement various attributes including: teamwork, a positive attitude, listening skills, and the ability incorporate results into my everyday work habits.

Instead of charging right into a situation, I am able to take a step back and think the situation or issue through to create logical and effective solutions. Listening to the positive or negative feedback of coaches and teachers has provided me the ability to accept and view any constructive criticism as a learning opportunity.

Playing on so many different teams, with different people in order to realize a shared goal was an important experience in understanding the true sense of teamwork. In the events industry, we must work with clients and vendors to form a cohesive team in order to realize a common goal of maximizing results inside a successful event forum.” Says Joanne O’Connell, Business and Program Coordinator
